After a few last-minute fixes (like actually setting the title correctly) and a few other modifications, Square Splatter is finally ready for release.
Before you read on, go and download it!
I am confident there are no bugs within the design, and it is working in all major browsers:
- FireFox 3
- Safari
- Opera 9
- and even IE7!
No plugins are required to use the theme, and the archives link takes you to the footer section with a mini-archives bit. If you would like to link to a deeper archives page, change:
<!--<p id="more"><a href="#" >Detailed archives »</a></p>-->
To:
<p id="more"><a href="MY ARCHIVES PAGE URL">Detailed archives »</a></p>
To get hold of your archives page url, simply browse to the page via the WordPress admin interface and copy the text in the address bar. Or just email us, we’re happy to help :)
Download the theme! (click the image below to preview)
Idea behind the design: I found the boxes via GoMediaZine (one of their free sets) and loved them so much I started playing around in photoshop. A few hours later, this was the result. From then on it was just a case of coding to static XHTML/CSS, then integrating to WordPress. I’ll probably release a static version of the design soon too.

Yeah, I chose not to use a sidebar. If you want, I could make a sidebar version if you’re interested in using it?

Hi Nick,
This is a great theme, planning for using it our music project blog called “Evora”. It fits the project perfectly and the theme is way better than the “premium” ones. Just read the comments, and Styletime was talkin’ about a sidebar version, is this available / possible to have by any chance?
With widgetized sidebar this would be ever more spectacular. If that can happen.

I like that little bit of coding. It is always good to see other theme designers looking at visuals as well as code.
